The Story of Otto Erler, WWII POW
From The American Legion Magazine,1960
Not many of us have seen the colors struck. No, not retired. Not simply lowered at the end of the day, but deliberately pulled down. World War II Marine, Otto Erler, did from his foxhole on Corregidor. Knocked unconscious by a Japanese mortar shell, Erler came too just as Japanese troops swarmed over him. Corregidor had fallen. As Erler looked up past a Japanese bayonet, up the barrel of the weapon, and over the shoulder of his captor . . . he saw a tattered "Old Glory" coming down. In his head were the words of a poem: "A moth-eaten rag on a worm-eaten pole. It doesn't look likely to stir a man's soul . . ." But it did. Oh, how it did stir Erler's soul. In that flag he saw America folding, America coming down. And that 20-year-old Marine from Dallas, Texas cried. Later, under guard on a dock in Manila, enroute to a prisoner of war camp, Erler snuck away into a small, empty office building on the pier, in search of - of all things - toilet paper. In rummaging through the place, he found none. But in a corner, in a dark closet, he found an American flag. It grabbed him by the throat . . . it was a piece of home. It was something he could have faith in. He didn't stop to think that prisoners were shot for less. He snuck back into the ranks of prisoners and quickly hid the flag in his duffel bag. Transported on prisoner ships, Erler kept the flag hidden, and for the first time brought it out for a comrade's burial at sea. Done with permission from his captors, Erler's flag draped the lead-filled, canvas body bags of several who died on the trip. When leaving the transport and heading to a more permanent camp, Erler was able to smuggle the flag off the ship. He carried it with him and kept it in his pillowcase. Eventually it was found and taken from Erler who, with the ranking American officer, bravely told the Japanese as he handed it over, "This is an American flag. We expect it to be treated with proper courtesy and to be returned when we leave." They reluctantly agreed, but not without penalties: rations would be halved for thirty days, no cigarettes, and lights out at 9:00 p.m. In early 1944 Erler was transferred to a lead mine in Japan. As he prepared to depart, he bravely asked for the return of the Flag. It was given over to him. At the lead mine he was allowed to keep his flag, but only for burials. For use in any other way, he would be held responsible. It found use ten times in sixteen months. Then in August of 1945, after more than three years as a POW, peace was at hand. The war was over and it was Erler's turn to strike the colors. Down came the rising sun and up went the Stars and Stripes. Through his years as a prisoner, Erler's flag buried 25 men and raised the spirits and gave hope to thousands. That 42-star flag is still around. It resides at the Dallas Historical society. It is tattered and torn. It's one of those things best described by British General Sir Edward Bruce Hamley:

"A moth-eaten rag on a worm-eaten pole,
It doesn't look likely to stir a man's soul;
'Tis the deeds that were done 'neath the moth-eaten rag;
When that pole was a staff and the rag was a Flag."

I don't think I could or need to add anything more......Hank!

Saul Alinsky's Rules For Radicals...
Read'em and Weep!!!

Posted: January 8, 2008
(This is an expanded version of the 2000 Third Quarter issue of Public Relations Strategies, a quarterly publication of Miyamoto Strategic Counsel) To paraphrase some sage advice, "keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer." If your business or organization ever becomes a target of radical activists, it will be extremely helpful to know what strategies of attack will used against you. Short of having spies infiltrate their organization - a practice that is sure to be found out and exposed to your discredit - it would help to study their methods. Known as the "father of modern American radicalism," Saul D. Alinsky (1909-1972) developed strategies and tactics that take the enormous, unfocused emotional energy of grassroots groups and transform it into effective anti-government and anti-corporate activism. Activist organizations teach his ideas widely taught today as a set of model behaviors, and they use these principles to create an emotional commitment to victory - no matter what. Grassroots pressure on large organizations is reality, and there is every indication that it will grow. Because the conflicts manifest in high-profile public debate and often-panicked decision-making, studying Alinsky's rules will help organizations develop counteractive strategies that can level the playing field. Governments and corporations have inherent weaknesses. And, time and again, they repeat mistakes that other large organizations have made, even repeating their OWN mistakes. Alinsky's out-of-print book - "Rules for Radicals" - illustrates why opposition groups take on large organizations with utter glee, and why these governments and corporations fail to win. Large organizations have learned to stonewall and not empower activists. In other words, they try to ignore radical activists and are never as committed to victory as their opposition is committed to defeating them. Result? They are unprepared for the hailstorm of brutal tactics that severely damage their reputation and send them running with their tails between their legs. Some of these rules are ruthless, but they work. Here are the rules to be aware of: RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have." Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. "Have-Nots" must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.) RULE 2: "Never go outside the expertise of your people." It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don't address the "real" issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.) RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy." Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.) RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity's very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.) RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.) RULE 6: "A good tactic is one your people enjoy." They'll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They're doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid "un-fun" activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.) RULE 7: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag." Don't become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.) RULE 8: "Keep the pressure on. Never let up." Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.) RULE 9: "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself." Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists' minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.) RULE 10: "If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive." Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management's wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.) RULE 11: "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative." Never let the enemy score points because you're caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.) RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

I say;
Whats left to be said? This is the campaign that both Hillary Rod'em and Hussein Obama are running. Keep your eye on the doughnut here not on the hole, don't be flim-flamed by hyperbolic verbiage and grand sounding proclamations. They are as hollow as a rotten logs and smell just as bad if you stick your head into them and take a good whiff of the Marxism they are preaching!. ......Hank, Orange Beach Alabama Jan 8. 2008!

A Personal Observation...
As I've aged and become more respectful of the ravages of time there's one thing that glares out at me like a spotlight on a dark night. Nature does not over endow any species. There are equalities given to them that causes them to be be pretty much playing on a level field. This of course does not include Mankind. Biblically Speaking Man was give power over all creatures, and so it is. Man was also given the power of deduction and the ability to create as well as the prospect of free will and the admonition to use it wisely. Mankind now has the power to annihilate entire villages with the touch of a button or destroy a forest with the toss of a match. Mankind has been given, placed at the tip of his fingertips, the power of hidious and instaneous death and odious destruction. But here's the clinker in the theory, he has not been given the power of life! All things in the nature of the planet has an equal and opposite effect. Plus/minus, light/dark/, hot/cold, ect. But nowhere is there a provision to life/death.

But wait, the Bible states that eternal life can be attained by following the edicts of Son of God (Jesus Christ) and that the wages of disblief and sin will bring eternal death. Perhaps all is not lost after all. Perhaps this is why it is said; Wise men still seek him and that if you seek him you will find, ask and you'll be given, knock and the door will open. Those of us that have persued him this know the truth of this equation, those that haven't do not and are prone to disqualify the obvious fact, and by doing so are in effect knocking on the door and asking for eternal death which of course will be granted by their very action. I think it'd be prudent to be very careful of what you ask for...you might get it!

Republican Women Too Smart to Fall for Hillary's Ruse
By Kyle-Anne Shiver
Posted: October 30, 2007
Last week, my hometown paper, The Atlanta Journal & Constitution, ran an online story entitled, "Clinton Pollster Predicts Defection of GOP Women." Depending solely on his own "internal" polling, Mr. Mark Penn - Public Relations guru extraordinaire, and Hillary's campaign strategist -- says that a full 24% of Republican women will punch their ballots for Hillary based on the "emotional" appeal of electing the first woman President.[snip]
Clearly, Mr. Penn is either purposefully spinning or indulging in a rather perverted, nearly delusional form of magical thinking. [snip]
From where we're sitting, Mr. Penn, it looks like you and Hillary don't get out of your little self-created bubble enough. We Republican women are plum full of emotion every time we see Mrs. Clinton put on yet another female face for the cameras, but it isn't the kind that you ever want to be with in a dark room alone[snip]

I say;
Where to begin? First off I wouldn't consider anyone that would vote for Hirrary a Republican by any measure. Seems to me also that there is a lot of polling results data out in the 'Ratland environs that is among the best kept secrets in the country because they won't release the questions of the criteria used for obtaining their results nor the list of peoples called. I'm suspecting that as like elections before, the 'Rat intelligentsia will pump and dump and call the election over prior to even a vote being cast then proclaim it to be the biggest fraud and cheating event ever perpetrated on the American people in the history of man when their beloved Hirrary loses! That's the way I see now...

From the American Thinker Magazine;
Is the Tide Turning on Media Coverage of Iraq?
By Rick Moran
Posted: November 03, 2007;
I suppose when the New York Times has a front page story about the turnaround in the security situation in Iraq without their usual parsing and caveats, we might be able to say that press coverage of the war has turned the corner and the reality of what is happening there will be accurately reported. But while waiting for hell to freeze over, perhaps we should begin to recognize the fact that major media outlets from the Washington Post to the Los Angeles Times as well as the cable news nets are beginning to notice that there has been a significant and definite drop in the violence in Iraq and that some semblance of normalcy is returning to the war torn countrys[/snip]
[snip]It should be noted that the situation is precarious. The tens of thousands of Sunnis who have signed on to help coalition forces in Iraq by joining the army and police force are being given a hard time by the Shia dominated government. And political reconciliation - from the top down anyway - still appears to be a will 'o the wisp pipedream with Iraqi Shia legislators dragging their heels on most of the major initiatives that would unite the country. Unless there is real progress over the next few months, the possibility exists that the Sunnis would give up trying to cooperate with the government and return to their old insurgent ways. [/snip]
I say;
The Media has been complicit in causing much of the bloody trouble in Iraq. The media hands are dripping with American blood, don't anybody believe anything different! They've been falsely reporting egregious lies, including faux murders, about the war, They've printed Americans war secrets, they tried everything in their power to cause us to lose. They've intricately lied about the progress and about the feelings of a pluarity Americans. This information of course is then read by our enemies and miscontrued to mean something that is a lie and enboldens them to further their failing bloodlusting actions. Now that the US Media has had it's ears pinned back by the American people they'll now come slinking out of their freshly pooped-in corners leaving paw prints in the not-yet-dried paint and contrive to to re-establish a sort of shakey credibility. I personally know of no one that puts any credence into anything that they read in the newspapers unless it's first qualified and verified by the adroit internet bloggers. Now that's a fateful place in time and position to have put ones self.

Now that we can expect some reasonably truthful reporting coming out of Iraq we can also expect to see the enemy in full unqualified retreat. Much like the condition democrats would have had us in if we'd continued down the cut'n'run white flag waving path of cowardness. Regardless of the consequences the 'Rat-media have created for themsleves they'll still not give any credit to President Bush for his mettle and pervasiveness against all the faux lies that the Democrats have flung his way and expected to have stuck to the wall. Instead they have a stable full of doo doo and are mulling and mucking about in the thick of it, pondering their next cantankerous anti-American move against us and our government leaders. However have no fear...they'll be back with overloaded bucket loads of more sordid smelly stuff to throw at us.

That's the way I see on this Saturday Morning!.....Hank, in Orange Beach Alabama!

Our national “news” programs have been preoccupied with baseball players on steroids, but they should devote some attention to the Bush Administration’s approval of a plan to put the United Nations on steroids. Apparently looking to leave office with the blessings of the “international community,” the Bush Administration just sold out American interests at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia.

This is where the global warming crusade is leading: an emerging world government with control over the most intimate details of our personal and family lives. In addition to putting his stamp of approval on this suicidal course, President Bush is pushing the dangerous U.N. Law of the Sea Treaty, which establishes another independent revenue stream for the U.N. Never mind that the evidence shows that the treaty’s International Seabed Authority is as corrupt as any other U.N. bureaucracy. So the President who doesn’t want to raise domestic taxes on the American people will leave a legacy of global taxes.
I say;
We as a free people need to vigorously fight this leftward trend with everything we have or we'll be taxed into submission by UN neer do wells that only wish to see us stumble and fail as a viable Republic. This "Global warming nonsense is of course a scam of great faux perspective proportions. There is absolutely no verifiable non-refutable evidence in existence that Man made Global warming even exsists let alone caused by Man's endeavors! What we have are zealots trying to confound our minds with an unrelenting barrage of perversity that is false in every premise and is only designed to separate Americans from their hard earned money. President Bush would do well to ignore this flagrant attempt to bankrupt the American economic apparatus and suck Americans dry through some egregious international taxing cabal so as to further fund worldwide UN corruption.
